kinda a short post, cause i need to work.
but it's 4 am (i need to do some school work.)
anyways, such a wierd thing has been happening of late.
I've woken up....before my alarm clock. Yeah, it is wierd. I wake up around 2 minutes before it rings. Ok, i know what you may think= patterns. If you have a 5am alarm clock, one should awake that time on the "dot" every morning after a while. BUT the last few days i have slept in because i was too tired, and I haven't had a 4am alarm clock for a few months now....
...crazy...
And, for whatever reason, I am not tired. I woke up, wide awake, let the alarm ring, then got up. Usually I stay in bed another 30 minutes after my 5 am alarm clock..
...hmm...
I guess it's just one of those things. There have been times when I wake up at wierd times randomly too- like I will awake at exactly 1 am every day for a week for some reason.
anyways, i think i may start putting my flickr descriptions in the form of blogs here. I will start the description, but then leave a "...(link) read more here"
So if it is short like=
"this is a bug i found in my backyard"
I won't link it here, but if it one of those 2-3 paragraph deals (i have been known to go higher) I will do. It'll be link
2 main sentences, followed by a "... (link)." It's similar to a newspaper article, which will have a main sentence and picture, then a go to page.
Why do this? I think some of my long descriptions get cumbersome to read on flickr....they take a ton of room to scroll down and stuff. I'm also safer when i write them here- flickr doesnt auto save like here.
ok, back to work

gnn...
tired. Need more sleep.
Well, many hours of work to be manipulated out of waking up this early.
Study, work, etc. Not a happy life.
Ok..even if I fell asleep earlier- say, 7 pm. I would get..10 hours of sleep if I awoke at 5 am ( I can talk about why that logic doesn't really work another day.) Well, even if got 10 hours of sleep and wouldnt be tired, I would still get tired throughout the day because I am 'starting up' at an earlier time.
Rule= sleep isn't about hours. It's about how you use them. A comfortable 7 hours is better than a rocky 9. If you can get 7 hours of straight sleeping it is more comfortable than sleeping 4, staying up one hour, then sleeping another 5.
-oh, and something magical that happens= When you can sleep and have dreams, your bound to feel more awake in the morning. Why? Because your dreams usually occur a few minutes before you wake up...they only last a few minutes. Anyways, when you dream before you wake up, it gives your brain a chance to get started, and therefore you feel more "awake". Get it?
The final way to get more out of sleep...i think i have mentioned this before... is to wake up without an alarm clock. Yeah, waking up naturally is always better. The same reason why if you suddenly wake up at 3 am in the morning, you may not feel tired until you lie back down for 10 minutes and slow everything down. Our bodies have natural ways of waking us back up.
And finally, there is such a thing as too much sleep. If you arent doing any hard activities like workouts or long mental work, if you have a chance to "sleep in" it's really better if you don't. Anything over 10 hours isn't going to do you much justice. Yes, i've slept for over 12 hours before...you usually wake around 10 then go back to sleep for another 2 or 3 hours before hunger kicks in. Well, the only reason i say to not let yourself take the extra 2 or 3 hours or whatever ("second sleep"...if you do sleep for 12 hours straight, let it be. You may need it.") is because it throws off your schedual- even if its a weekend or something. You loose lots of time you could be doing other things, and you really wont feel a difference between 13 hours of sleep and your "magic number" (the average number of hours you sleep on your own without an alarm clock. Mine is around 9 or 10.)
Well, sleep well.

that's right. I have a blog.
phew! finally the weekend. I need to admit; doing a blog at 5am is hard. don't be surprised if you dont see many more 5am posts.
well, lots of work to do this weekend...again.
Oh well, i have made it a habit to go outside and shoot some more. I'm doing more macro, and wish to start some more star trails, and maybe..just maybe some wildlife.
oh, and i want a macro flash...badly.
Then my collection will almost be complete! my dream setup was this back in the day=
5D
17-40 f/4
50mm f/1.4
100mm f/2.8 macro
70-200 f/4
400mm f/5.6
Mr-14 ex
THAT would have been a fun setup. I don't know what path to go on...I could also stray this path (my thought back then)=
30d
10-22
50mm 1.4
100mm macro
70-200 f/5
400mm 5.6
mr-14 ex
The only difference is the 10-22. If i could get a 5d, a 17-40 would be soooo cool. It would basically be the 10-22 on the wide end. I would _love_ to get a full frame dslr. With thee 17-40...oh my= pure magic for landscapes. Pure magic. Of course, I would keep the macro for my xt work..
thats conflicting i suppose.
with the 30d I would still be able to use the same camera with the macro lens (apc sensors= better macro weapons) And the 400 and 70-200 would have greater range. Of course, the counter arguement is that i would go wider on the 70mm end.
hmmm..
well, either way I need to build my army first.
Next on my list is the mr-14 ex.
After that..well, I like to expand before improving. So, i could get something like a 50mm 1.4 next, but it's the same focal length. Instead, getting a different lens in a differet focal length is better. So...I'm thinking the 400 could be next. *but* i dont know how much I would use her :(. I don't venture out very often to shoot birds (although i love bird pics when i get them. SO much easier than macro). And even then, 400 is considered a low level telephoto lens. Or as my dad says "telephoto starts at 200." and then when I talk about bird photo he says something redunt but true like "200 will work, but 400 or 600 will get you closer." Thanks, Dad. Well, he has a point. 200 does work for birds, but you cant get close. 400 would work, but only for semi-close birds.
I'd go telephoto before getting something like a 17-40 or a 10-22 because I already have the kit lens which basically covers that area (basically.) I have nothing that can come close to replicating a 400mm lens.
another problem is that I can't carry another lens in my pack. My pack can only carry 4 medium sized lenses, but I have modified it to fit 4 lenses which includes a 70-200 (which technically shouldnt be able to fit.) With a 400...ouch.
Well, maybe I could get a TC. That would give me an effective 448mm on 35mm terms with my 70-200.
well, I could just not get a 400mm and start on the lower end..
I'm rambling, arent I? you can see how excited new gear makes me.
ah, oh well. a discussion for a later day (not a rainy day, because I have a camera housing that is water proof. I can do macro in the rain!)

*sigh*
I still wonder why i have no friends at this school.
It's not like I am really that shy...ok, i am a bit shy. But that "bit" is usually towards strangers; I tend to open up considerably with people I know.
Part of it is fear= I kinda dont want friends because it will make graduation harder. If I make good friends, it will be painful to leave them.
Part of it is all mental= I don't associate fun with this new school. Therefore, I really never thought of making friends over here. Like...i feel lost when i have free time after school. I've almost forgot how to just relax and have fun.
Then, part of it is an unwillingness to complete 'the circle'. 'The circle' is a concept of friendship and relationships- one person starts drawing a circle when they meet you. In order to complete it the shape, you need to finish drawing it. If you think about it, it's not out of the question to be friends with every person that crosses your path if you finish the circle. Say there is a new employee and they greet you with a standard 'hello, i'm new here.' You can complete the shape and say "Hi, nice to meet you." or you could complete the circle and say "Hello my name is so ando so, what is yours? Let me show you around. Did you just move here?" etc. The long route is finishing the circle, the easy route is just responding to the question. I've tended to not complete the circle on most occasions.
Also, the people I have met aren't too sociable. Ok, not their falt, but mine for not trying to find more people.
The last part is the way they percieve me. I appear shy most of the time, closed, etc. Not particularly open. So, i think i'll attempt to change it a bit. When i was around friends, I tended to open up and let my creative side take over...so, I may try using that mask for a few days. In the end, i am afraid that most kids in my classes just aren't that sociable.
And yeah, i tend to not complete the circle.
Wow..an hour to wake up. phew!

First real post
well..it's 5:30. I had a horrible night of sleep. I do this thing sometimes when I sleep...I call it a dream within a dream, just it happens when I'm awake. Ok, I'll wake up suddenly, but still be very tired...I'll then fall into a mental state of being almost in a dream. In this stage my mind will really push my circuits= I'll imagine something and probably believe it. Like I can be 100% sure that for some unexplainable reason I need to do something (really, it can be that vague in my head) to...say, do a favor for someone. And I'll just roll around in bed playing this situation through my head for some reason...anyways, they never make sense but I never really "wake up" from them. Thats what it's kind like a dream within a dream... When it happens it is...ugh..i hate it. I loose a lot of sleep because I will wake up around 11 pm or 12 pm am suddenly then stay awake for an hour in a kind dreamy-state before I realize I need to go to sleep. (yes, it happened tonite). Sadly I can't remember what happened, but it was something along the lines of "ok, I'm awake. That's good, i don't feel tired at all. I should probably get up."- you get the point. I said that for a good 30 minutes until I realized that I should look at my clock, which said 11:48...so..I fell back asleep, only to awake again. After that I had a strange kind of "half-dream"- which really, really suck. Basically you day dream in bed, and it stops you from sleeping.
Anyways.....I sleep wierd. On a typical day I'll sleep 10 hours ;)
So, this week. Lots of work to do. My classes are easier...I dropped my math class...b-u-t. That does not mean it has become a cakewalk. I still have lots of work to do for other classes. Again, I'm not going to back down or anything- I'll work hard to do the work, then work harder to get ahead.
Other things to look foward to...
oh...yes. I need to buy a macro flash. I think tuesday may work.
And...now I would like to write more, but it has been 40 minutes, and I feel awake now.
-ok I know talking about sleeping is generally boring, but this is the last, i promise-
I woke up without being tired, which is always a bad sign. That means I get very tired in an hour or two...again, one of those strange things that happens Wake up tired-do fine. Wake up not tired- get tired really soon.
and one more thing...In my experience, it doesn't matter how long you sleep at night, but rather how you wake up constantly each day. If you wake up without an alarm clock, you will always feel better/sleep better. Sleeping knowing some electronic device will scream at you is not good for the body. The best way to do this is usually to set an alarm at a certain time..say, 7am- then let it wake you up for a month or so. Basically until your body knows when to wakeup. Trust me, at some point in time you will be able to wakeup before the alarm clock. Now, once you reach that state, simply push back the alarm a bit..like, 7:20 for example. As long as you tend to fall asleep at the same time, you should be able to wake up at 7 am without any interruptions- by yourself. It's hard to do/time, but it can work. When it does work, you will be able to wake up and get out of bed more easily, and in general coffee won't be needed. The only thing that stops this from happening is not being excited to wake up, or from being too tired. If you have a boring job, you wont want to wake up. If your too tired...well, your body will forget.
yeah, thats all. time for more studying before school!

tired...
Tired...it's 9 am-ish. I've had a long week. Lots of conflicts during school...phew! It is tiring. I feel like staying up late- it's friday- to do work, but I tihnk i must sleep and pick it up later.
Well, school is still hard. Difficult. It's getting better though..but really, this is all just the begining.
Not much to say right now...
I wish I could just take pictures instead of doing homework and studying, but those days are kinda over...oh well, i used them well the last few years. It was fun.
Well, I think more than ever I want a job in photography...not because I really want to do photo stuff as a job, but because it gives me an excuse to carry a camera around. Also, I may try to do some journalism stuff because I'm ok at writing...maybe doing a picture book of some sort- like a coffee table book. Yeah, that would be cool.

:(
I slept in today. I woke at 5 am, and i was tired. I fell asleep around 10:30-10:45. Why? I was in bed by 10, but my mind was running wild. I probably fell asleep around 11 actually... anyways, i have been tired all week from waking up at 5 am all the time. Very tired. I was awake at 5, fell back asleep and let my 5:10 alarm wake me up. Then i realized the only work i would do is some extra studying for a test tomorrow, or I could sleep some more and study without being tired. I went for the later. So, I got an extra 2 hours of sleep (yay!) and it feels good. I need to leave soon though so...yeah, no real blog entry.
Chances are I sleep in tomorrow because it will be Friday morning...hmmph. Well, the idea is still good though...it's basically a morning blog either way.
Again, sorry for not awaking at 5....no, wait. Why would you care? It's an entry either way. Most of the above would be moaning and groaning about the time any ways.
so...
yeah, I'll do some real "blogging" eventually (The first Time I've used that verb!!!)

"what?" "Kelly, you have the helmet on backwards." "Well, doesn't that mean I'm more..." "-likely to write a blog?" "yeah."
Starting blog. First entry? Captains log. Yeah, i like captains log. Captain kelly. Kaptain Kelly. Yeah, that works.
Kaptain Kelly, day one=
no, that sounds stupid. It sounds like a cereal brand.
Anyways (the word I love to use), this is my blog. Photos will be posted..most likely old material (anything on my flickr page) because it is easier to link it to my blog via URL's and stuff. That whole upload photo stuff gets tricky. I will probably give some back stories on photos, simple tutorials, etc.
I will write a lot. Lots of opinion. Daily struggles, etc. Poems from spanish class, doodles. Etc.
Lots of writing. Lots. Maybe short stories. Poems, song lyrics.
Writing.
Anyways, it is called 5 oclock photo because i wake at 5 every morning monday-friday to do work and study and shower and wake up and listen to music. All stuff I would normally do first period during school (ok, not the showering although if I could...). It's hard on the body, but...well, it takes 30 minutes to get myself awake, and writing a blog right out of bed could help me wake up..or just make we write sloppily, which could be equally entertaining. Most of my entries will probably start with some sort of moaning and groaning about how late it is, and how cold it is.
So if you see most of my posts coming in at 5:30...
I'll try to refrain from weekend posts. Weekends are mine, not the computers.
During the school-year-summer....hey, who knows.
Well, here's to a possible idea bound to fail, filled with happiness, and with the smell of....ok, it's late, i need sleep. Pfff. Watch as my next entry becomes a blog about sleeping and tired-ness.
